The 51st FIMFS Annual National Convention is just around the corner! Calling all Researchers to submit their Research Abstracts for contest and presentation. The invitation is open for everyone, but only submissions from institutional members can join the competition for both professional and student categories. Submit your entries to fimfsecretariat@fimfs.org.ph on or before June 30, 2019.

Times New Roman font size 12
Letter-sized (8” x 11”) sheet
Body text should not be more than 300 words
Must include the following: title, author(s)’ name(s), affiliation, address(es), email address of the lead author, and five keywords
In case of multiple authorship, the presenter’s name should be underlined

The Venue

Getting There

The Southern Leyte State University-Main Campus is accessible from the North via Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport in Tacloban City. Van costs around P250-P300 from the DZR Airport to Sogod PUV Terminal. Alternatively, a Van Terminal is located in Marasbaras, just a few minutes from Robinsons' Marasbaras, accessible via Jeepney for P8.00 (stop at Pepsi Plant Rotunda then walk a little towards Robinsons, it's just opposite the vacant lot before the mall), where fare is only P150.00.

From the West, boats (Roro and Fast Crafts) from Cebu enter the region thru Ormoc City, Baybay City, Hilongos, Bato, and Maasin City. Sogod can be accessed via Van or Bus. From Ormoc City, vans cost around P220.00 while the DMS bus cost around P180.00. From Baybay City, van fare is P120.00 while DMS bus is 100. From Hilongos, Van Fare is P70.00 while DMS bus is around P50.00. From Bato, fare is P50.00 and from Maasin City, fare is P120.00.

From the South, Buses from Mindanao enter the region via Benit, San Ricardo and Liloan port.

Once in Sogod PUV Terminal, blue tricycles lie in wait. Just tell the driver to take you to SLSU-Main Gate. Trike Fare is P8.00.

Federation of Institutions in Marine and Freshwater Sciences

FIMFS is an organization that had metamorphosed into a 25-member institution from the original five chartered members in 1968. Composed of public and private institutions of higher learning in the Philippines that are involved in marine and freshwater sciences, the federation is committed to bringing closer partnership among institutional and individual members. The collegial sharing of research outputs, facilities, resources and expertise is central in its quest for true partnership.
The FIMFS annual scientific convention is one of its major activities hosted in turns by institution members. The convention serves as a venue for exchange and updating of research outputs, as well as a platform for mentoring young budding scientists, with participants coming from various higher-education institutions (HEIs), non-government agencies and organizations (NGAs & NGOs), as well as private individuals.
